I am so grateful to have been a part of this course this semester. I am a singer-songwriter and my intent is to major in sound practices through the CMCI college, which was my reasoning for taking this course. As the semester draws to a close, I find myself inspired to continue art making in other medias as well. I have focused so much of my energy on music making in the last few years that I almost forgot that I love creation in other forms as well. This class has expanded my mind, opened my senses, made me think in new ways, and re-sensitized me to the wondrous world of art. In particular I am excited about implementing more experimental elements into my creative practice moving forward.
I chose the piece above as best representing me because it shows a new form of art that has developed over the course of the semester. Besides cropping and repositioning, all the images in the pieces I created for this class are unaltered from the original photographs. They are pieced together to tell new stories, stories deeply relevant to me but open to interpretation by the viewer.
